Beginner’s Green Smoothie

It’s a New Year and you know what that means – lots of New Year’s resolutions, and I’d hedge a bet that a majority of them somehow relate to health and wellbeing.

Raw Lemon Berry ‘Cheesecake’

I have eaten my fair share of vegan cheesecake at restaurants and made by a wonderful friend who has trained as a raw vegan chef, but only recently attempted to make my own.  Why it has taken me so long to make an attempt, I have no idea, but I’m so glad that I did!


After a massive Google search for recipes, I came across a fabulous blog called Sweetly Raw that is filled with stacks of recipes for raw cheesecake and other desserts in any variety you can think of. I had great success following her recipe for raw chocolate cheesecake and wanted to try another variety, so loosely followed her recipe for a lemon berry swirl cheesecake, but tweaked it a little to give it a chocolate crust.

Breakfast: Fridge Oats

Lately I have felt extremely time-poor, so have been looking for ways to get organised and streamlined in the kitchen, while still maintaining a healthy diet.

I have seen ‘refrigerator oats’ on a few blogs and on pinterest, and although a Bircher muesli type breakfast soaked overnight isn’t a new concept for me, the idea of pre- preparing and serving breakfast in mason jars made me keen to give it a try.

Winter Salad – Asian Style Wild Rice Salad

Despite cravings for hot soup with crusty bread and rich filling foods to warm up evenings that have become chilly, I atom still aiming to eat healthily, even over winter. In order to achieve that, I need to ensure that I have sufficient inspiration for winter style salads, since the usual salad leaves plus extras just aren’t as satisfying as they are during hot weather.

With the Gold Coast marathon coming up next weekend, I thought it would be timely to post about a topic that has been on my mind:  How to become a runner.

Having always been an ‘anti-sport’ gym-only exerciser and much more of a yogi than a runner, I never imagined that I would be able to run further than the end of my street, yet it is starting to come much more naturally after some practice.
