Beginner’s Green Smoothie

It’s a New Year and you know what that means – lots of New Year’s resolutions, and I’d hedge a bet that a majority of them somehow relate to health and wellbeing.

Cauliflower ‘rice’

Recently we have made a pretty significant change to the way we have been eating. After reading The 4-Hour Body I had a realisation that as vegetarians we tend to rely on carbs for a majority of our meals. Though a lot of the time I tend to replace processed carbs with whole grains, the ‘slow carb diet’ takes you away from grains altogether, leaving us to rely more on fresh vegetables and legumes for a large portion of our meals.

31 days of gratitude

August was a month full of gratitude for me, and for those of you who played along in the #iamgrateful gratitude photo a day project, I hope that you gained as much as I did from the process.

Forcing yourself to look around and take a picture of something you are grateful for each day (whether you follow a list or not) gives the same benefits as a gratitude list, allowing you to appreciate what you have and opening your mind to a positive way of thinking.

Reflections on 8 Weeks Sugar Free & Healthy Lunch Recipe

It’s amazing how fast time flies, I can hardly believe that our 8 weeks is finished, it has now been about 10 weeks since we started Sarah Wilson’s ‘I Quit Sugar’ program.  For the first 6 weeks we stuck fast to the plan, and although it was a challenge at times it was an excellent learning experience that I would highly recommend.

Though I know I have talked about it a lot, I have to reiterate that I believe gratitude is the way to be truly satisfied and happy with life.  Rather than comparing ourselves to others, when our attention is turned to that which we are grateful for, it is impossible not to feel like the luckiest person in the world.
